Avast BreachGuard is a paid product that requires a subscription to use. After installing Avast BreachGuard, you need to activate your subscription before you can use the application.
Select the relevant tab below for instructions to activate your Avast BreachGuard subscription.
To activate Avast BreachGuard, you need to sign in to the application with an Avast Account that contains a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription. If you don't yet have an Avast Account, you can create one using the email address that you provided during purchase. Follow the instructions in the relevant tab below according to your default browser to activate your Avast BreachGuard subscription.
Activate Avast BreachGuard
- Open Avast BreachGuard and click Sign in. Google Chrome opens.
If you don't yet have an Avast Account, click Create account to activate Avast BreachGuard by creating a new Avast Account with the email address that you provided during purchase. - Follow the relevant step below in Google Chrome:
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- Enter the credentials for the Avast Account that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Continue.
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- When prompted by Google Chrome to re-open Avast BreachGuard, click Open Avast BreachGuard UI.
If your Avast Account is linked with a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription, the application activates automatically. If automatic activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Activate via sign-in key section below.
- Open Avast BreachGuard and click Sign in. Firefox opens.
If you don't yet have an Avast Account, click Create account to activate Avast BreachGuard by creating a new Avast Account with the email address that you provided during purchase.
- Follow the relevant step below in Firefox:
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- Enter the credentials for the Avast Account that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Continue.
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- When prompted by Firefox to re-open Avast BreachGuard, follow the steps below:
- Select Choose Application.
- Ensure Avast BreachGuard UI is selected, then click Open Link.
- Select Choose Application.
If your Avast Account is linked with a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription, the application activates automatically. If automatic activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Activate via sign-in key section below.
- Open Avast BreachGuard and click Sign in. Microsoft Edge opens.
If you don't yet have an Avast Account, click Create account to activate Avast BreachGuard by creating a new Avast Account with the email address that you provided during purchase.
- Follow the relevant step below in Microsoft Edge:
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- Enter the credentials for the Avast Account that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Continue.
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- When prompted by Microsoft Edge to re-open Avast BreachGuard, click Open.
If your Avast Account is linked with a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription, the application activates automatically. If automatic activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Activate via sign-in key section below.
- Open Avast BreachGuard and click Sign in. Avast Secure Browser opens.
If you don't yet have an Avast Account, click Create account to activate Avast BreachGuard by creating a new Avast Account with the email address that you provided during purchase.
- Follow the relevant step below in Avast Secure Browser:
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- Enter the credentials for the Avast Account that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Continue.
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- When prompted by Avast Secure Browser to re-open Avast BreachGuard, click Open Avast BreachGuard UI.
If your Avast Account is linked with a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription, the application activates automatically. If automatic activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Activate via sign-in key section below.
Activate via sign-in key
If activation via Avast Account fails, you can activate Avast BreachGuard using the sign-in key from your web browser. To use this alternative activation method, follow the steps below:
- Open Avast BreachGuard and click Sign in. Your default web browser opens.
- Follow the relevant step below in your default web browser:
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- Enter the credentials for the Avast Account that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Continue.
- Check that the listed Avast Account is the one that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Yes, continue. Alternatively, click Sign in as someone else.
- Click Get a sign-in key instead.
- Click Copy to clipboard.
- Go to Avast BreachGuard, and click enter the sign-in key from your browser.
- Click in the text box, then press the
Ctrlkey and theVkey on your keyboard simultaneously to paste the sign-in key. Click Continue.
Your Avast BreachGuard subscription is now active. If activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Troubleshoot activation issues section below.
To activate Avast BreachGuard, you need to sign in to the application with an Avast Account that contains a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription. Activate Avast BreachGuard
Your subscription activates automatically when you sign in to Avast BreachGuard with an Avast Account that is linked to your Avast BreachGuard purchase.
- Open Avast BreachGuard and ensure the Log in tab is selected.
- Enter the credentials for the Avast Account that contains your Avast BreachGuard subscription, then click Log in.
If your Avast Account is linked with a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription, the application activates automatically.
If Avast BreachGuard does not detect a valid subscription, you are prompted to activate the application using an activation code. Enter the activation code (including hyphens) into the text box, and click Activate.
Use the email address that you provided when you purchased Avast BreachGuard to create a new Avast Account. After you create the new Avast Account, your subscription activates automatically.
- Open Avast BreachGuard and select the Create account tab.
- Enter the email address you used to purchase Avast BreachGuard and create a password, then click Create account.
- If prompted, open your email inbox and locate the email from notification@emails.avast.com with the subject Please verify your email address.
- Click the Verify email button.
- Return to Avast BreachGuard and click Continue to confirm that your email address is now verified.
If your Avast Account is linked with a valid Avast BreachGuard subscription, the application activates automatically.
If Avast BreachGuard does not detect a valid subscription, you are prompted to activate the application using an activation code. Enter the activation code (including hyphens) into the text box, and click Activate.
Troubleshoot activation issues
If you are unable to activate Avast BreachGuard, review the information below, which explains how to resolve some of the most common activation issues:
- Ensure that you are entering the credentials for the Avast Account that is linked to your Avast BreachGuard subscription. To verify this, sign in to your Avast Account in your web browser and click the Subscriptions tile to see a list of the linked subscriptions.
- If your Avast BreachGuard subscription does not appear in your Avast Account, you can manually add the subscription. For instructions, refer to the following article:
- If you are prompted to enter an activation code, retrieve it via your Avast Account. This excludes the possibility that the issue is caused by an incorrect activation code. For instructions, refer to the following article:
