Automatically enabling Avast SecureLine VPN when connected to an unsecured Wi-Fi network

Avast SecureLine VPN enables you to connect to the internet via secure Avast VPN servers, which protect your connection and ensure your privacy. This article describes how to enable Avast SecureLine VPN to automatically turn on when your device is connected to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.

Enable Avast SecureLine VPN to connect automatically

Avast SecureLine VPN can be used any time you want to connect to the internet with extra security and privacy, and is especially recommended when you are connected to a public or unsecured wireless network.

To automatically turn on SecureLine VPN when connected to an unsecured Wi-Fi network:

  1. Double-click the Avast SecureLine VPN icon on your desktop to open the user interface.
  2. Click MenuSettings.
  3. Ensure VPN Mode is selected in the left-side panel, then tick the box next to Automatically when connected to the internet.

    Alternatively, select Smart VPN at the top of the screen. By default, Smart VPN automatically connects to the fastest server available.

Avast SecureLine VPN will now turn on automatically when your PC connects to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.

  1. Click the Avast SecureLine VPN icon in the menu bar and select Open Avast SecureLine VPN.
  2. Click Preferences (the gear icon).
  3. Select the Network Security tile in the left-side panel, then tick the box next to Automatically when connected to the Internet.

Avast SecureLine VPN will now turn on automatically when your Mac connects to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.

  1. Tap the Avast SecureLine VPN icon on your device's Home screen to open the app.
  2. Tap Settings (the gear icon), then select Auto Connect.
  3. Tap When I connect to unsecured Wi-Fi. If prompted, tap Allow to share your device location with the VPN.

Avast SecureLine VPN will now turn on automatically when your device connects to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.

  1. Tap the Avast SecureLine VPN icon on your device's Home screen to open the app.
  2. Go to Settings (the gear icon), then select Auto Connect.
  3. Select When I connect to Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap Trusted networks.
  5. Tap the + icon next to any networks you want to add to the Trusted networks list.

Avast SecureLine VPN will now turn on automatically when your device connects to a Wi-Fi network not defined in the Trusted networks list.
