Creating scan reports in Avast Antivirus

Avast Antivirus allows you to specify if you want to produce a report automatically at the end of each scan (Core Shields, Virus Scans, or Custom Scans). When troubleshooting issues with Avast Support, you may be requested to provide this report file. Follow the steps in this article to enable the generation of a scan report, run a scan, and locate the scan report file on your PC.

Generate a scan report

  1. Open Avast Antivirus and go to MenuSettings.
  2. Select ProtectionCore Shields.
  3. Scroll down to Configure shield settings and select the shield you want to generate a scan report.
  4. Tick the box next to Generate report file.

  3. Select the scan you want to generate a report.
Boot-Time scan always creates a full report automatically after it is run, and customization to this report is not possible.
  1. Scroll down and tick the box next to Generate report file.
  1. Open Avast Antivirus and go to ProtectionVirus Scans.
  2. Select the Custom scans tile.
  3. Hover your cursor over the relevant scan panel, then click (three dots), and select Settings.
  4. Scroll down and tick the box next to Generate report file, then click Save.

Run a scan

After enabling the Generate report file option, run the scan to generate a report file:

Locate a report file

After the scan is complete, locate the report file in the following location:

  • C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report
The Boot-Time scan report is stored in the aswboot.txt file.
