Activating Avast SecureLine VPN on Windows

After purchasing Avast SecureLine VPN, you need to activate the product using a valid activation code (sometimes called a subscription code or voucher code), or license file, or via your Avast Account that is registered with the same email address you used to make the purchase.

Before following the activation steps in this article, ensure the latest version of Avast SecureLine VPN is installed on your PC. For instructions, refer to the following article:

Activate Avast SecureLine VPN

Your activation code can be located in a number of different places depending on the purchase method. For example, in an order confirmation email, on an activation card, or within another Avast product. For instructions on how to locate your activation code, refer to the following article:

To activate Avast SecureLine VPN with an activation code:

  1. Double-click the Avast SecureLine icon on your desktop to open the application then go to MenuMy licenses.
  2. On the My Licenses screen, click Enter a valid activation code.
  3. Type or paste your activation code into the text box and click Enter.
  4. Check your license details for the entered activation code. If you have an activation code for interchangeable products, you can click on a listed item and select an alternative license from the drop-down menu. Then click Continue to return to the My Licenses screen.

You may have received a license file in an old order confirmation email, or if you requested a copy of your license. To activate Avast SecureLine VPN with your license file:

  1. Open your order confirmation email.
  2. Right-click the attached License.avastvpn file to save it. The method of saving the file varies depending on your email client. You may need to right-click on the attached file and select the option Save as..., Save link as..., or Save all attachments.
    If you are unable to locate your license file, you can find it in your Avast Account. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  3. Select a familiar location to save the file (for example, your desktop) and click Save.
  4. Double-click the Avast SecureLine icon on your desktop to open the application then go to MenuMy licenses.
  5. On the My Licenses screen, click Enter a valid activation code.
  6. Click Use a license file.
  7. Locate the License.avastvpn file and click Open.
  8. Check your license details for the inserted file. If you have a license file for interchangeable products, you can click on a listed item and select an alternative license from the drop-down menu. Then click Continue to return to the My licenses screen.

All your Avast licenses automatically appear in the Avast Account registered with the same email address you used to make the purchase.

To activate Avast SecureLine VPN via your Avast Account:

  1. Double-click the Avast SecureLine icon on your desktop to open the application then go to MenuMy licenses.
  2. On the My Licenses screen, click Log in to your Avast Account.
  3. Enter your Avast Account credentials and click Log in. Alternatively, select Log in with Google or Log in with Facebook to log in to your Avast Account using your existing Facebook or Google credentials.
  4. Check your license details for the connected Avast Account. If you have any licenses for interchangeable products, you can click on a listed item and select an alternative license from the drop-down menu. Then click Continue to return to the My licenses screen.

Your license for Avast SecureLine VPN is now activated. The expiration date of your license appears under Licenses on this PC.

You can activate your license on the number of PCs you specify when making the purchase.

  • To change your license in Avast SecureLine VPN, select Deactivate this license on the My Licenses screen, and click Deactivate to confirm. Then repeat the steps above to re-activate Avast SecureLine VPN using another license.
