When your Avast Antivirus displays the text Your subscription has expired, you can either purchase a new subscription to continue using your paid Avast Antivirus or manually switch back to Avast Free Antivirus.
Renew your subscription
- Click Reactivate below the expiration warning.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to select, purchase, and activate your new license directly in Avast Antivirus.

Switch back to Avast Free Antivirus
- Right-click the Windows
Start button and select Apps and Features from the menu that appears. 
- Ensure that Apps & Features is selected in the left panel, then click your version of Avast Antivirus, and select Uninstall.

- Press the
Win
key and X
key simultaneously, then select Programs and Features from the menu that appears. 
- Right-click your version of Avast Antivirus, then select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.

- Click the Windows
Start button and select Control Panel. 
- Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if you are using the default category view,
...or click Programs and Features if you are using the large/small icons view. 
- Right-click your version of Avast Antivirus, then select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.

- If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.

- When the Avast Setup wizard appears, click Switch back to Avast Free Antivirus.

- Wait while setup updates Avast Antivirus on your PC.

- When the update is complete, click Restart computer to reboot your PC immediately, or click Restart later if you want to manually reboot your PC at a later time.

After you restart your PC, you may need to activate your free license to ensure that Avast Free Antivirus works properly. For instructions, refer to the following article:
