What is Email Guardian?
Email Guardian scans your incoming emails when you check them using a web browser. Any malicious or phishing emails are marked with an 'Avast: Suspicious' label. Email Guardian is a premium feature available in the paid version of Avast One and Avast Premium Security.
Which email accounts are compatible with Email Guardian?
Email Guardian is available for the following email providers:

- Comcast.net
- Gmail.com: googlemail.com
- GMX.net: gmx.net, gmx.biz, gmx.org, gmx.info

How many email accounts can I protect with Email Guardian?
With an Avast One Individual subscription you can protect a maximum of 5 email accounts.
An Avast One Family subscription can protect 6 family members, each with a maximum of 5 email accounts.
With an Avast Premium Security subscription you can protect a maximum of 6 email accounts.
Does Email Guardian detect malicious emails in my whole inbox?
Email Guardian scan emails as they arrive to your inbox. It does not scan emails that are already in your inbox before you enable Email Guardian.

How do I know that Email Guardian is working?
An 'Avast: Suspicious' label appears on emails in your inbox. These detected emails are automatically moved to an 'Avast: Suspicious' folder in your email account.
You can also see statistics on the total number of emails scanned without any issue and the number of warnings displayed. To access these statistics, follow the relevant steps below:
- Open Avast One and click
Explore ▸ Email Guardian ▸ Open Email Guardian, then select the On the web tab.
- Open Avast Premium Security and select Protection ▸ Email Guardian.

Why do I see the error message 'Your account is not enabled for IMAP use'?
For Email Guardian to function correctly with some email providers, it is necessary to enable IMAP in your email account settings. For detailed instructions on how to do this, refer to the following article:
What does the error message 'Application-specific password required' mean?
This message appears when you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled and try to enter your email account password to set up Email Guardian. In this situation, you need to generate a special password in your Google Account settings for Email Guardian to be able to connect to your email account. Why do I see the error message 'Sorry, we can't connect to that account yet'?
This message appears if you are trying to connect with an email account that is not yet supported by Email Guardian. We are continuously adding compatible email providers so please try again later.
