Avast BreachGuard protects your browsers according to your preferences.

Avast BreachGuard cannot scan any red (unprotected) browsers for weak, duplicated, or breached passwords.

When you return to the Avast BreachGuard user interface, the new email account appears on your Monitored email accounts list with a green tick to show that it is verified. Avast is monitoring the internet for data breaches involving this email account.

Safeguard your online accounts

Avast BreachGuard cannot fully protect your online accounts unless you have first enabled browser monitoring for each browser that you use.

When Avast BreachGuard detects threats linked to your online accounts, the Risk Monitor tile shows the status privacy threats.

To resolve detected threats:

  1. Open Avast BreachGuard and click Risk Monitor.
  2. Avast BreachGuard shows a list of your vulnerable or breached online accounts. You may see the following threat types:
    • Breached account (High Risk Threat): Hackers and thieves can access this account because the login credentials were leaked online.
    • Using breached password (High Risk Threat): This account is extremely vulnerable because the password was leaked online.
    • Weak password: This account is vulnerable because the password does not meet our safe password criteria.
    • Reused password: This account is vulnerable because the password is used to access more than one account.
  3. Click Show Details next to a listed service to start resolving the detected threats.
  4. When the side menu appears, click Change Password to load the website for the relevant service in a new browser window.
  5. Log in to the account using your current login credentials.

  9. For each listed threat, click Show Details, then follow steps 5-9 above.

Your online accounts are now secure. You are notified as soon as Avast detects any additional threats linked to your online accounts.

Manage data removal requests

The Personal Info Remover tool allows you to prevent data brokers from storing and selling your personal information online. You just need to fill out our removal request form once, then Avast does the hard work by contacting each data broker individually to ensure your personal information is removed from their databases.

Refer to the instructions in this section to perform the actions below:

Submit your first data removal requests

To complete the removal request form and send your first data removal requests:

  1. Open Avast BreachGuard and click the Personal Info Remover tile.
  2. Use the drop-down menu to select the country where you live, then click Start Removal.
It is not possible to use Personal Info Remover if Avast BreachGuard has not yet identified active data brokers in your current location. Avast BreachGuard will continue to search for active data brokers in your location and notify you as soon as they are identified. You can verify and update your current location at any time via MenuSettingsLocation.
  1. In the Info removal request form, fill out all required fields and click Send Requests.

Avast immediately begins processing your removal requests. This process can take up to 48 hours. While your removal requests are being processed, the Personal Info Remover tile on the Avast BreachGuard dashboard shows the status Processing requests.

Navigate the Removal requests report

It normally takes Avast BreachGuard around 48 hours to process removal requests. Once your removal requests have been processed, the message on the Personal Info Remover tile changes from Processing requests to Active. You can verify the status of individual requests via the Removal requests report:

  1. Click the Personal Info Remover tile on the Avast BreachGuard dashboard.
  2. Review the status of your processed removal requests. Removal requests appear in the categories below:
    • Successfully Processed Requests: Avast successfully contacted the brokers listed in this category. These brokers are now legally obligated to remove your personal information from their databases. Click Show Details to learn more about a listed data broker.
    • Other Brokers: Avast was unable to contact the data brokers listed in this category. This can happen when a data broker's website is experiencing technical issues, when a data broker is no longer operating in your area, or if a data broker stops processing automatic requests. Click Show Details to learn more about a listed data broker, and to access the data broker's website, where you can try to submit a removal request manually.

Send subsequent removal requests

When you need to send subsequent data removal requests, the Personal Info Remover tile on the Avast BreachGuard dashboard shows one of the following statuses:

  • Data collectors: Avast has identified new active data brokers.
  • Re-run your requests: Avast recommends re-submitting data removal requests to all identified data brokers. This action is recommended every 3 months, because certain data brokers may start collecting your personal information again after removing it.

To send subsequent removal requests:

  1. Click the Personal Info Remover tile on the Avast BreachGuard dashboard.
  2. Click Send Requests.
  3. Your current Info removal request form appears. If necessary, adjust your personal details, then click Send Requests.

Avast immediately begins processing your removal requests. This process can take up to 48 hours. While your removal requests are being processed, the Personal Info Remover tile on the Avast BreachGuard dashboard shows the status Processing requests.
