Explaining Android notifications about Avast Mobile Security running in the background or consuming the battery

Avast Mobile Security is a security app for Android designed to protect your device against unwanted phishing, malware, spyware, and malicious viruses such as trojans. To fully protect your device, it needs to run in the background all the time.

Android notifications are system notifications and they are not displayed and cannot be managed by Avast Mobile Security settings.

Why does Avast Mobile Security run in the background?

Avast Mobile Security runs in the background all the time to ensure the complete and continuous real-time protection and to check every file you open on your device at any moment. Considering this fact, the app is designed to have minimal impact on battery life. Testing across multiple devices shows that all services by this app generally take up less than 5% of battery consumption. Running in the background is also required by security features included in the app, such as App Locking and Anti-Theft.

Android 8.0 notifies you about Avast Mobile Security running in the background or consuming the battery, but it does not inform you that this is crucial to fully protect your device.

Avast is not able to remove or disable this notification. It can be removed only by disabling Avast Mobile Security. However, we do not recommend this solution because it compromises your device security. Instead, we advise you to submit your feedback about this notification to Google.
