Installing Avast Premium Security

Install Avast Premium Security

  1. Ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Click the button below to download the Avast Premium Security setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your PC (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder).

  3. Right-click the downloaded setup file avast_premium_security_setup_online.exe and select Run as administrator from the context menu.
If you are unable to authorize installation of Avast Premium Security, refer to the following article for advice:
  1. If prompted for permission by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  2. To change the default setup language, click the current language in the top-right corner of the screen and select your preferred language. Then, click Install to proceed with default installation, or click Customize if you need to make changes to the default setup.
  3. Wait while setup installs Avast Premium Security on your PC.
  4. Once the installation is complete, click Get Started on the You're protected screen.
  5. Review the Avast Privacy Policy, and click I Agree if you are happy to share anonymous user data with Avast and other third-parties. If you do not want to share user data, click No, Thanks.
  6. Select one of the options below:
    • Activate: If you purchased Avast Premium Security before installation, activate your paid subscription. For detailed activation instructions, refer to the following article:
    • Start Free Trial: If you do not yet have a paid Avast Premium Security subscription, start a free-trial period to enjoy access to all paid product features for a limited time period.
  7. Click Run First Scan to trigger a comprehensive Smart Scan to detect viruses, malware, bad browser add-ons, and other issues on your PC.

Avast Premium Security is now installed, but some components may not fully function until you restart your PC.

  1. Ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your Mac.
  2. Click the button below to download the Avast Security setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your Mac (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder).

  3. Double-click the downloaded setup file avast_security_online.dmg.
  4. Double-click the Avast Security icon.
  5. Click Continue to determine if Avast Security can be installed.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Click Continue to confirm that you have read the Avast End User License Agreement, then click Agree to confirm that you accept the terms.
  8. Click Install to proceed with default installation, or click Change Install Location... or Customize if you want to make changes to the default step.
  9. If prompted, use your Touch ID to grant permission for the installation, or click Use Password..., then enter your Administrator password and click Install Software.
  10. Wait while setup installs Avast Premium Security on your Mac, then click Close.

    • Continue With Premium: If you purchased Avast Premium Security before installation, activate your paid subscription. For detailed activation instructions, refer to the following article:
    • Continue With Free: If you do not yet have a paid Avast Premium Security subscription, start using the free version of the application.

Avast Premium Security is now installed, but some components may not fully function until you restart your Mac.

Troubleshooting

If you experience any installation issues:

  1. Ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements and your Windows is up-to-date.
  • Windows 10 except Mobile and IoT Core Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 8/8.1 except RT and Starter Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 7 SP1 or higher, any Edition (32 or 64-bit)
  • Windows fully compatible PC with Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 processor or above (must support SSE2 instructions); ARM-based devices are not supported
  • 1 GB RAM or above
  • 2 GB free space on the hard disk
  • Internet connection to download, activate, and maintain application updates and the antivirus database
  • Optimally standard screen resolution no less than 1024 x 768 pixels
