Enabling Anti-Theft in Avast Mobile Security

Anti-Theft included in Avast Mobile Security requires an initial setup to track and control your device remotely in case of loss or theft. When you upgrade the paid Avast Mobile Security Pro version, you can also use advanced Anti-Theft options that allow to capture photo of the thief when incorrect PIN is entered, lock your device when SIM card is changed and secretly record the phone's surroundings at any time.

To enable this feature, refer to the instructions in the following sections.

Run Anti-Theft setup

  1. Tap the Avast Mobile Security icon on your device.
  2. Click the menu icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Select Anti-Theft.
  4. Tap Set up now to start the Anti-Theft activation process.

Create your PIN

  1. Tap Set PIN.
  2. Select an account for PIN reset and tap OK to confirm.
  3. Create a PIN and type it again to confirm.
  4. Tap Continue to complete the PIN setup.

Set up Web control

  1. Tap Web control.
  2. Tap Set up Web control.
  3. Log into your Avast Account.
If you are also using other Avast app on this device and you are logged in to your Avast Account there, Anti-Theft detects it automatically and offers you to use the same account. In such case, tap I understand to confirm that you want to log in to the suggested account.

Grant permissions

  1. Tap Allow permissions.
  2. The following steps may differ depending on the version of your Android system.
  3. Tap Go to Settings to grant the System overlay permission.
  4. Move the slider under Avast Mobile Security from OFF to ON.
  5. Tap Go to Settings to grant the Device administrator permission.
  6. Read the information about this permission and tap Activate to set up Avast Mobile Security to Device Administrator.
  7. Tap Go to Settings to grant the Usage stats permission.
  8. Tap Avast Mobile Security.
  9. Move the slider under Avast Mobile Security from OFF to ON.
  10. Tap Go to Settings to grant the Write settings permission.

  • Tap Request permissions to grant basic permissions.
  • Tap Allow on each screen.
  • Go back to the app and tap Finish to complete the activation.
    1. Type your PIN code to unlock Avast Mobile Security.
    2. Anti-Theft is now enabled and you can start using it.
    • Avast Anti-Theft for Android
    • Avast Mobile Security 6.x
    • Google Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean, API 16) or higher
