Troubleshooting when Avast AntiTrack cannot detect tracking activity

Avast AntiTrack is a privacy application designed to keep your identity safe from the latest online tracking techniques.

In rare cases, Avast AntiTrack may fail to detect and block tracking attempts. If you experience this issue, we recommend fully uninstalling and then reinstalling Avast AntiTrack by following the steps in this article.

Instructions

Before following the instructions below, ensure you have the latest version of your browser installed: If, after updating your browser, Avast AntiTrack still fails to detect and block tracking attempts, then follow the steps below.
  1. Click the button below to download the Avast AntiTrack setup file, and save it in a familiar location on your PC (by default, all files are saved to your Downloads folder). Download Avast AntiTrack
  2. Right-click the downloaded setup file and select Run as administrator.
  3. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes (or Continue on older versions of Windows).
  4. Click OK to confirm uninstallation.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Click Remove them.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Click Cancel to stop the immediate reinstallation of Avast AntiTrack.
  10. Before reinstalling Avast AntiTrack, follow the steps below to ensure that all program components are removed from your PC:
    • Check that hidden files and folders are visible on your PC. For instructions, refer to the following article:
    • Open File Explorer and enter C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\ into the address bar.
    • If you see the AvastAntiTrack folder in this location, delete it by right-clicking the folder name and selecting Delete from the context menu.
    • Enter C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\ into the File Explorer address bar.
      "your_username" refers to your Windows Username. You can find this by opening the Task Manager and selecting the Users tab.
    • If you see the AvastAntiTrack folder in this location, delete it by right-clicking the folder name and selecting Delete from the context menu.
  11. Restart your PC.
  12. Reinstall Avast AntiTrack by following the steps in this article:

  1. Click the Avast AntiTrack menu bar icon and select Show Avast AntiTrack.
  2. Click Avast AntiTrack in the menu bar on the top-left of the screen and select Uninstall.
  3. Click Uninstall.
  4. If prompted, use your Touch ID or enter your administrator User Name and Password then click OK to grant permission for the uninstallation.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart your Mac.
  7. Reinstall Avast AntiTrack by following the steps in this article:

  • Avast AntiTrack for Mac 1.x
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Home / Pro / Enterprise / Education - 32 / 64-bit
