Restoring your Avast Passwords data using a backup

When you synchronize Avast Passwords across your devices, Passwords creates a backup of the data stored within. You can use this backup later to restore the data on a new device if you do not have access to any of your previously synchronized devices.

Restore your Passwords data

If Avast Passwords is not installed on your device, install it and configure a new vault before you proceed. For more details, read the following articles:
  1. Locate and open the email you previously received from Avast Software with the subject Your backup identity and click the Restore link.
    This email was sent to the email account you used to log into your Avast Account to enable synchronization on your first device.
  2. Click Open Avast Antivirus in the dialog that appears.
  3. Click Start now in the Avast window that appears.
  4. Log into your Avast Account, if prompted.
    By proceeding, you are agreeing to Avast's End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy.
  5. Type your Master Password for the current PC and click OK.
  6. Type the Master Password for the original device from your previously synchronized group of devices and click Confirm. Your access to your Passwords data is restored.
  7. Click Close to complete the backup restoration process.

  3. Click Start now in the Restore Backup window that appears.

  5. Type your Master Password for the current device and click Unlock.
  6. Type the Master Password for the first device from your previously synchronized group of devices and click Confirm. Your access to your Passwords data is restored
  7. Click Close to complete the backup restoration process.

Your previously synchronized Passwords data appears on the main Avast Passwords screen.
