Avast One Network Inspector - Getting Started

Network Inspector scans your current network for vulnerabilities and security issues that may expose your sensitive private data, or leave the devices on your network vulnerable to attacks. In addition, Network Inspector shows which devices are currently connected to your home network, so you can see if anyone is using your network without your consent.

Refer to the sections in this article to learn how to use Network Inspector.

Run a scan

To scan your network for vulnerabilities:

  1. Open Avast One, click Explore ▸ Network Inspector ▸ Open Network Inspector.
  2. Click Scan network.
  3. Wait while Network Inspector scans your network for vulnerabilities.
  4. Refer to the relevant information below according to the message you see on the results screen:
    • No problems found on network or No vulnerable devices found: We have not identified any vulnerabilities or security issues on your current network. Click Done.
    • Problems found on network or Vulnerable devices found: We have identified vulnerabilities or security issues on your network. For more information, refer to the Resolve an issue section of this article.

Resolve an issue

If Network Inspector detects issues on your network, you see the message Problems found on network or Vulnerable devices found after running a Network Inspector scan.

To resolve each detected vulnerability:

  1. Read the information in the panel to understand the type of vulnerabilities found. For example, DNS hijack found or Device password leaked.
  2. Follow the instructions to secure your connection. For example, Turn on VPN.
Alternatively, select Cancel and Yes, leave to proceed without resolving the issues(s). We do not recommend exiting the scan without resolving issues. Your devices will remain vulnerable on the network.
  3. After following the instructions to resolve the vulnerability, your network is now secure. Click Done to finish running the scan and resolving the issue(s).
