Troubleshooting when Avast AntiTrack Premium cannot detect tracking activity

Avast AntiTrack Premium is a privacy application designed to keep your identity safe from the latest online tracking techniques.

In rare cases, Avast AntiTrack Premium may fail to detect and block tracking attempts. If you experience this issue, we recommend fully uninstalling and then reinstalling Avast AntiTrack Premium by following the steps in this article.

Before following the instructions below, ensure that you have the latest version of your browser installed: If, after updating your browser, Avast AntiTrack Premium stills fails to detect and block tracking attempts, then follow the steps below.

Instructions

  1. Click the button below to download the Avast AntiTrack Premium setup file, and save it in a familiar location on your PC (by default, all files are saved to your Downloads folder). Download Avast AntiTrack Premium
  2. Right-click the downloaded setup file and select Run as administrator.
  3. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes (or Continue on older versions of Windows).
  4. Click OK to confirm uninstallation.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Click Remove them.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Click Cancel to stop the immediate reinstallation of Avast AntiTrack Premium.
  10. Before reinstalling Avast AntiTrack Premium, follow the steps below to ensure that all program components are removed from your PC:
    • Check that hidden files and folders are visible on your PC. For instructions, refer to the following article:
    • Open File Explorer and enter C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\ into the address bar.
    • If you see the AvastAntiTrackPremium folder in this location, delete it by right-clicking the folder name and selecting Delete from the context menu.
    • Enter C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\ into the File Explorer address bar.
      "your_username" refers to your Windows Username. You can find this by opening the Task Manager and selecting the Users tab.
    • If you see the AvastAntiTrackPremium folder in this location, delete it by right-clicking the folder name and selecting Delete from the context menu.
  11. Restart your PC.
  12. Reinstall Avast AntiTrack Premium by following the steps in this article:
