Resetting Avast Passwords

The support for Avast Passwords is ending across all platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. Users are encouraged to migrate to the new Avast Password Manager standalone browser extension and the new mobile application. Avast Passwords enables you to protect your passwords and sensitive data with a single Master Password that you create. If you forget your Master Password, no one can access or recover the data stored in Avast Passwords. In this case, the only option is to reset Avast Passwords, which irreversibly deletes all your stored data and allows you to set up Avast Passwords again.

Reset Avast Passwords

  1. Open Avast Antivirus and select Privacy ▸ Passwords.
  2. When prompted to enter your Master Password, click Settings in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Click Reset Avast Passwords and delete my data.
  4. Click Delete to confirm.
  5. Avast Passwords is now reset. Click Get started to set up Avast Passwords again.

  1. Click Go ▸ Applications in the Apple menu bar, then click the Avast Passwords icon to open the application.
  2. Click Avast Passwords in the Apple menu bar and select Remove Vault.
  3. Click Remove to confirm.
  4. Enter your Mac Administrator password and click OK.
    If you do not have an administrator password set up for your Mac user account, go to System Preferences ▸ Security & Privacy ▸ General and create a login password. Without an administrator password you cannot remove the Avast Passwords vault.
  5. Avast Passwords is now reset. Click Start now! to set up Avast Passwords again.
