The Password Guardian score is the total score of all your login passwords that are stored in your vault. Each password is analyzed which is used as input for your Password Guardian score. The stronger your password is, the more secure your logins are. Improving the strength of each password is important and it helps in increasing the Password Guardian score.

Password Guardian alerts

The Password Guardian health alert appears in green, yellow, or red, depending on your Password Guardian score.

• Green: Your Password Guardian status is strong or very strong. Watch out for changes in your safety score and take action to maintain a strong rating.
• Yellow: Your Password Guardian status is not very strong. Change your weak or old passwords to increase your score.
• Red: Your Password Guardian status is weak or very weak. Your login strength needs immediate attention. Change your weak or old passwords, especially for websites you use frequently.

Factors affecting your Password Guardian score

The following factors impact your individual Password Guardian score:

• Password strength: If the password strength is less than 90%, it affects your login password score.
• Password duration: If the login password that you use on a website is more than 6 months old, it affects your login password score.
• Duplicated password: If the login password is duplicated on more than one website, the login password score is impacted.
• Leaked password: If the login password is exposed in data breaches online, your login password score is impacted.

Increase your Password Guardian score

For passwords that have a score of 90% or less, set a strong password by using any of the following features:

• Change now: The Change Now feature lets you change the password of a website manually. Clicking Change now takes you to a new tab, where you need to take steps to change the password manually. Use the Password Generator feature in Avast Password Manager to set a strong password for the website to improve your login safety.
• Password Generator: The Password Generator feature helps you create highly secure passwords that are difficult to crack or guess. When you create a new login, you can use Password Generator to create strong passwords.
