Installing Avast SecureLine VPN

Avast SecureLine VPN for Windows is a virtual private network that secures your internet connection using an encrypted tunnel to disguise your real location, and prevent others from eavesdropping on your online activity over public Wi-Fi and unsecured networks.

Avast SecureLine VPN is a paid product that requires a subscription to use. This article contains instructions to install the application and either activate an existing subscription, start a free-trial period, or purchase Avast SecureLine VPN.

Install Avast SecureLine VPN

You do not need to follow these installation instructions if you use Avast Antivirus on your PC because Avast SecureLine VPN is already installed as a program component.

  1. Click the button below to download the Avast SecureLine VPN setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your PC (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder).

  2. Right-click the downloaded setup file avast_vpn_online_setup.exe, and select Run as administrator from the context menu.

  3. If prompted for permission by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  4. In the screen that appears, click Install.
  5. Wait while setup installs Avast SecureLine VPN on your PC. SecureLine VPN opens automatically after installation.
  6. In the screen that appears, click Get started.
  7. Click Connect VPN.
  8. Select when you want to connect your VPN and then click Continue.
  9. Select your favorite online activities to customize your VPN experience and click Continue.
  10. In the Avast SecureLine VPN main screen, click Connect.

Avast SecureLine VPN is now installed on your Windows computer.

Troubleshooting

If you experience any installation issues:

  1. Ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements specified in the following article:

Install Avast SecureLine VPN

We are aware of an issue that can cause the installation or reinstallation of Avast applications to fail intermittently on macOS 27 (Golden Gate). When this issue occurs, the installer may display the following message: The installation failed. The installer encountered an error.... This issue is intermittent and does not affect every installation attempt. To resolve this error, you should delete the old setup file(s) and re-download a fresh setup file from your Avast Account and try installing again.   1. Click the button below to download the Avast SecureLine VPN setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your Mac (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder).

  2. Double-click the downloaded setup file avast_secureline_online.dmg.
  3. Double-click the Avast SecureLine VPN icon.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Click Continue to confirm that you have read the Software License Agreement, then click Agree to confirm that you accept the terms.
  6. Click Install to proceed with the default installation, or click Change Install Location... or Customize if you want to make changes to the default setup.
  7. Enter the password that you use when you start your Mac, then click Install Software.
  8. Wait while setup installs Avast SecureLine VPN on your Mac, then click Close. SecureLine VPN opens automatically after installation.
  9. Click Continue in the screens that appear.
  10. Click the red (OFF) slider to connect to an Avast SecureLine VPN server.
  11. Select one of the options below:
    • Start free trial: If you do not yet have a paid subscription, start a free-trial period to access Avast SecureLine VPN for a limited time period.
    • Buy now: Follow the on-screen instructions to purchase an Avast SecureLine VPN subscription.

Avast SecureLine VPN is now installed on your Mac.
