Avast Omni hub light behavior and reset options

When you first connect your Avast Omni hub to an electrical outlet, the light on the top-front edge of the hub will briefly glow solid white, then change to solid blue as it moves through the boot-up sequence. Once the bootup is complete, the light changes again to indicate the current status of the device. A reset button is located at the back of the hub, which can be used to perform a reboot or factory reset of the Avast Omni hub. Boot-up sequence

Connecting your Avast Omni hub to an electrical outlet initiates bootup. This is indicated by the light on the top-front edge of the device, which displays the following sequence:

  1. Solid white ( ≈ 1 second at power on)
  2. Solid blue ( ≈ 20 seconds, bootup in progress)
  3. Either:
    • Flashing blue (continuous until the Avast Omni hub is configured)

      OR...
    • Solid white (continuous if the Avast Omni hub is already configured and is working correctly)
When you set up Avast Omni for the first time, it is possible you may also see a slow-blinking blue light during the boot-up sequence. In this case, the Avast Omni hub is running an automatic update and the light sequence is:
  1. Solid white ( ≈ 1 second at power on)
  2. Solid blue ( ≈ 20 seconds, bootup in progress)
  3. Slow-blinking blue ( ≈ 5-20 minutes, depending on your internet speed)
  4. Solid white ( ≈ 1 second at reboot)
  5. Solid blue ( ≈ 20 seconds, bootup in progress)
  6. Flashing blue (continuous until the Avast Omni hub is configured)

Automatic update

Periodically, the Avast Omni hub will automatically update and self-reboot. Once the update and reboot are complete, the light returns to solid white. If the light remains solid blue for more than 20 seconds, there was a problem with the bootup and the device is resetting itself. In most cases, the issue will resolve itself. However, if the solid blue light persists for more than 2 minutes, a reboot may be required. Contact Avast Support for assistance diagnosing the problem.

Reset Avast Omni hub

When troubleshooting Avast Omni issues with Avast Support, you may need to reboot or reset the Avast Omni hub. Rebooting the Avast Omni hub will restart the device's software without removing any of your home network settings. A factory reset will restore the Avast Omni hub to its original state before it was configured with your network router, therefore you will need to set up your Avast Omni hub again after a factory reset. For instructions, refer to the relevant section below, based on guidance from Avast Support.

Reboot

If you need to reboot your Avast Omni hub manually, follow the steps below:

  1. Using a ballpoint pen, push the tip of the pen into the reset hole at the back of the Avast Omni hub.
  2. Immediately remove the pen from the reset hole.
  3. Wait while the Avast Omni hub goes through the boot-up sequence.

Once the boot-up sequence is complete, refer to the light states table to determine the current status of your Avast Omni hub.

Factory reset

If Avast Support have advised you to perform a factory reset on your Avast Omni hub, follow the steps below:

  1. Using a ballpoint pen, push the tip of the pen into the reset hole at the back of the Avast Omni hub, and hold it there until the light starts flashing white. It will take approximately 10 seconds before the light starts flashing white.
  2. When the light starts flashing white, remove the pen from the reset hole and wait while the Avast Omni hub completes the factory reset. The light will change to slow-blinking blue, indicating that the factory reset is in progress.
  3. Do not unplug the device. Wait while the factory reset completes, which can take up to 5 minutes.
  4. Once the light is flashing blue, the Avast Omni hub is ready to be configured.

If you see a light other than flashing blue, refer to the light states table to determine the current status of your Avast Omni hub.
