Do Not Disturb Mode - FAQs

What is Do Not Disturb Mode?

Do Not Disturb Mode is a new feature in Avast Antivirus, and an upgrade to the previous Game Mode feature. Do Not Disturb Mode works to silence unnecessary notifications while you run almost any application in fullscreen. Each time you open an application in fullscreen, Do Not Disturb Mode automatically detects it and adds it to a list of applications. When you run applications from this list of entries in fullscreen, Do Not Disturb Mode automatically launches to silence notifications from Windows, Avast Antivirus, and other applications. In the Do Not Disturb Mode applications list, you can also tick the maximize performance box next to any application, which will allow it to run at highest priority and boost the performance of your PC.

To learn more about how to use Do Not Disturb Mode, refer to the following article:

  • Do Not Disturb Mode - Getting Started

How can I disable Do Not Disturb Mode?

Do Not Disturb Mode is enabled by default in Avast Antivirus. You can disable the automatic launch of Do Not Disturb Mode for specific applications, but it is not possible to disable the feature completely. To disable Do Not Disturb Mode for specific applications:

  1. Open the Avast user interface.
  2. Go to Performance ▸ Do Not Disturb Mode.
  3. Click the slider next to a specific application so that it changes to red.

Do Not Disturb Mode is now disabled for your preferred applications, and notifications will continue while these applications are in fullscreen.

How can I enable Do Not Disturb Mode?

Do Not Disturb Mode is enabled by default in Avast Antivirus. If the feature is disabled for a specific application at any time, you can re-enable it to turn off notifications while your preferred applications are fullscreen. To enable Do Not Disturb Mode for specific applications:

  1. Open the Avast user interface.
  2. Go to Performance ▸ Do Not Disturb Mode.
  3. Click the slider next to a specific application so that it changes to green.

Do Not Disturb Mode is now enabled for your preferred applications, and notifications will be silenced while these applications are in fullscreen.

How can I add applications to my Do Not Disturb Mode list?

Each time you open an application in fullscreen, Do Not Disturb Mode automatically detects it and adds it to a list of applications. You can also add applications manually. To manually add applications to the list:

  1. Click the Performance tile on the left side of the main Avast Antivirus interface.
  2. Select Do Not Disturb Mode.
  3. Click Add App and select an installed application to add it automatically. Alternatively, click Select App Path and navigate to an application, select it, and click Open to add it to the list.

In the applications list, you can enable or disable Do Not Disturb Mode with the slider on every application panel individually. You can also increase the performance of preferred applications by hovering your cursor over an application panel and clicking the … button, then ticking the box next to Maximize performance.

Does Do Not Disturb Mode only work when my applications are fullscreen?

Yes. Do Not Disturb Mode will only launch automatically when an application is opened in fullscreen. If an application is already on the Do Not Disturb Mode applications list, it must also be opened in fullscreen for Do Not Disturb Mode to launch. If an application is opened in windowed mode, Do Not Disturb Mode will not launch, and you will continue getting notifications from other applications.
