Resolving a blocked printer/scanner by Norman Firewall in Windows 10

Windows 10 software that came with your scanner may be blocked by Norman Firewall. In this situation you may be able to print, but unable to scan, even though this used to work with the previous version of your operating system. 

There are two different ways to solve this issue, by using or not using proprietary scanning software. 

Not Using Proprietary Scanning Software

This is the simplest solution, please follow the steps below:
  1. Go into Search and type in Scan (In this example the result will be Windows Fax and Scan
  2. Open the program and click on New Scan
  3. The program will now search for your scanner
  4. Once it is found, you will be able to use the scanner without disabling the firewall

Using Proprietary Scanning Software

In order to resolve this issue using Proprietary Scanning software you must contact your vendor for a solution regarding your scanner compatibility.
