If you have purchased an Avast subscription at a retail store or through a third-party reseller (such as Amazon), you must manually activate your Avast application after installing it. This article explains two different methods for activating the application.

Follow the instructions to activate your application using a reseller code first. If the method does not work, exchange the reseller code for an activation code.

Activating using a reseller code

1. Refer to the following article for instructions on how to install and activate your Avast application:
   • Installing and activating an Avast product
2. Follow the steps to download and install your Avast application, then activate it using the code you received from the reseller.
3. If requested, enter your name, email, and postal code.

Your Avast application is now active. If your Avast application does not accept your code, follow the steps in the next section to exchange your reseller code for an activation code.

Exchanging the reseller code for an activation code

1. Refer to the following article for instructions on how to create an Avast Account:
   • Activating your Avast Account
2. Log in to your Avast Account, then click the button below to activate your subscription: Activate your subscription
3. Type or paste the code you received from the reseller into the text box, then click Continue.
4. Your code is exchanged for an activation code, and the subscription is added to your Avast Account.

You can now activate your Avast application using your activation code or by signing in to your Avast Account through your application.
