Resolving a download loop in Norman Patch & Remediation Console

If you are receiving a lot of messages like Packages Completed 113 (secs) False in the Options view of your Norman Patch & Remediation Console, it is an indication that one or several packages have failed to download, and you are stuck in what is called a Download Loop.

To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open a Command Line Window (CMD) and type the following:
    osql -E [Press enter]
    use PLUS [Press enter]
    delete from plus.dbo.packagerequests where packagerequest_status like '%Requesting%' [Press enter]
    go [Press enter]
    exit [Press enter]
  2. Open the web page of your Norman Patch & Remediation console
  3. Browse to Options in the top menu
  4. Select Configure in the bottom menu and select the Restart button. This will restart the Replication Service
  5. Close the window
  6. In the Options-overview select the Reset button
  7. Press OK
Upon completion of these steps, the License and Vulnerabilities will replicate. This may take 5 to 30 minutes. After the replication is complete, you should no longer see any new download attempts from packages that end with False.
