Preventing your Android device from stopping Avast apps

This article applies to the following Avast apps for Android:
  • Avast Mobile Security
  • Avast Cleanup
  • Avast Passwords

To improve performance, some Android devices force apps to stop when your device screen turns off. This often causes apps to lose the Accessibility permission.

In this case, you need to manually re-enable the permission to maintain full app functionality. To re-enable the Accessibility permission, open your device settings, search for Accessibility, then grant this permission to your Avast Android app.

We recommend changing your device settings to prevent the app from losing the permission. Follow the relevant steps below according to your device:

Asus

  1. Open your device Settings.
  2. Tap Power management, then tap Auto-start Manager.
  3. On the Downloaded tab, tap Deny next to your Avast app to change this setting to Allow.
  4. Tap Allow to confirm the change.

Huawei

Follow the relevant steps below, depending on your EMUI version:

Huawei (EMUI 10.0 and later)

  1. Open your device Settings, then go to Battery ▸ App Launch.
  2. Tap the slider next to your Avast app so it turns Off.
  3. In the dialog that appears, ensure Auto launch and Run in background are enabled.

Huawei (EMUI 5.0 - 9.1)

  1. Tap the Phone Manager icon on the main screen of your device (or open Settings ▸ Battery).
  2. Tap Lock screen cleanup.
  3. Ensure the slider next to your Avast app is gray (OFF) and the app is set to Don't close.
