Where can I download the On Premise Console Installer?

Visit https://www.avast.com/download-software, links to download the On Premise Console installer and to the Docker Installation guide can be found under the For business section.

I've installed the On Premise Console, but it's asking for an Activation Code, where can I get one?

Activation Codes are provided with all license purchases. Additionally, if you require a trial license you can get one by going to https://www.avast.com/managed-antivirus. Scroll down to the Available editions section, for the edition you wish to trial use the Start Trial button, then select On my server as on-premise and Start Free Trial.

My devices don't show in my console after installing, or what should my server's hostname be?

After installing and registering a user for the Avast Business On-Premise Console you may find that you are unable to log in from the console's login screen. If after entering correct login credentials you see the console's splash page before being directed back to the login page with no error, this indicates that the URL you are attempting to visit may be incorrect, or that you entered a bad hostname during the console installation process. To solve this problem you may need to reinstall your On-Premise console and set the hostname to the static IPv4 address of your server.

I installed the Antivirus on the server running my console and am now experiencing difficulties.

We do not recommend running any components on the console server except for the File Shield, and the Exchange or Sharepoint Shields where appropriate. Additional components may be used, but will likely require significant configuration to prevent conflicts.

Are there remote deployment or auto deployment option?

The On-Premise console is capable of providing an MSI installer which may be used with several remote deployment methods such as Active Directory GPO or other RMM tools such as Managed Workplace. Device discovery tools have not been added at this time, but will be added in the future.

Can my On-Premise Console automate report creation and deliver?

Automated Report creation and delivery is not supported at this time, but will be added in the future.

For Mirror Configuration, does it add the firewall exception on the device for the mirror port to be opened?

Not at this time, but you may create a port rule in your device's settings template for destination port 4158 for TCP/UDP for both Inbound and Outbound. We will be adding additional firewall rules to the console that resolve this in the future.

How often do devices communicate with the console?

Devices check in with the console every 5 minutes.

Can I use wildcards in my exceptions?

Yes, you can use the character '*' to represent any sequence of characters, '?' to represent any one character or nothing, and you may also use common path variables such as '%userprofile%'.

Can I move a device from being managed by my Cloud Console to On Premise or vice-versa?

No, you cannot transfer a device between consoles at this time, but it may be an available feature in a future release.

Can I export settings like exclusions from one console and import them into another?

This is not implemented at this time, but may be implemented in a future release.

Does this console provide a built in remote assistance tool?

This is not implemented at this time, but may be implemented in a future release.

Can I use my console in an isolated network (no internet access)?

No, our console must have internet access in order to check in with our licensing servers. If you console and at least one device which you designate as a Mirror have internet access, the rest of your devices may not require internet access depending on your network topology.

On-premise device installations use port 443, is it possible to make my console directly available over the internet for devices that are not in our network?

This is possible, but will require ensuring that the hostname of your On-premise console can be resolved by your remote devices.

Will Avast live chat be available from my On-premise console the way it is from my cloud console?

This is not implemented at this time, but may be implemented in a future release.

Can I set multiple devices as Mirrors?

Yes, you can designate a single Mirror per Settings Template by device IP address.

Does the console have to be running while I am installing the clients?

Yes, client devices must be able to communicate with the console during installation or the installation will fail.

I cannot log in to on premise console when I'm using only hostname in IE or Edge browser?

There is a problem with cookies in IE and Edge when accessing pages using only hostnames specific to Microsoft browsers. To access your console through IE or Edge you must use the FQDN (Fully qualified domain name - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fully_qualified_domain_name).

For example FQDN is KOVACIA.int.avast.com and in IE and Edge does not work accessing console using only KOVACIA.

What if I forget my username or password?

Please contact Avast Business Technical Support as they will be able to assist you with recovering your password. The ability to recover your password may be built into the console in a future release.

Is it possible to install the client devices behind a proxy server?

Yes, but you must configure the proxy server settings in your settings template under the General Settings tab.

Can I receive emails notifying me of events in my console, such as virus detections?

Yes. To do this, you must configure the SMTP settings in your console from General Settings > SMTP Server. SMTP connections that do not require authentication may not work at this time, if you SMTP server requires logging into an account with multi-factor authentication you may need to generate an "App Password" to enable authentication. Please keep in mind that it is also possible to use gmail accounts as an SMTP service (See google's documentation for requirements and rate limits https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en ).

When accessing my console I get a notification that the site is not trusted?

This is because you are either using the automatically generated self-signed certificate or another certificate issued by Certificate Authority that is not trusted by your computer. It is possible to export the public certificate of your console and import it as a trusted certificate on your devices to resolve this warning, but may otherwise by safely ignored.

Can I change my console's certificate after the Console is installed?

We do not currently provide a tool for this purpose, but it can be done manually. Please contact Avast Business Technical Support at https://www.avast.com/business-support.
