Troubleshooting when Avast AntiTrack blocks or slows down webpages

Avast AntiTrack is a privacy application designed to keep your identity safe from the latest online tracking techniques.

In rare cases, Avast AntiTrack may slow down your browser, prevent certain webpages from loading, or prevent email attachments from downloading. If you experience any of these, we recommend following the steps in this article to resolve the issue.

Instructions

Before following the instructions below, ensure that you have the latest version of your browser installed: If, after updating your browser, Avast AntiTrack is still blocking or slowing down webpages, then follow the steps below.
  1. Uninstall and then reinstall Avast AntiTrack. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  2. If you continue to experience issues, untick Enable tracking detection in your program settings:
    • Select Settings in the bottom-left corner of the user interface.
    • Click Enable tracking detection to untick this option.
  3. If this doesn't solve your issue, disable browser protection for the affected browser:
    • Select Browsers in the left panel.
    • Click the green (ON) slider next to the affected browser, so it changes to red (OFF).
  4. If none of the above steps solve your issue, remove the Avast AntiTrack browser extension from the affected browser by following the relevant instructions below.
  1. Click the Avast AntiTrack icon on the Google Chrome address bar and click Avast AntiTrack.
  2. Click Remove from Chrome.
  3. Click Remove in the dialog box that appears.
  4. The Avast AntiTrack browser extension is now removed from Google Chrome.
  1. Click Menu in the top-right corner of the Mozilla Firefox browser, then select Add-ons.
  2. Select Extensions from the left-side panel, then click Remove next to Avast AntiTrack.
  3. The Avast AntiTrack browser extension is now removed from Mozilla Firefox.
  1. Right-click the Avast AntiTrack icon on the Opera address bar and click Manage extension.
  2. Click Disable below Avast AntiTrack.
  3. Hover your cursor over Avast AntiTrack, then click the X icon which appears in the top-right corner of the panel.
  4. Click OK to confirm removal.
  5. The Avast AntiTrack browser extension is now removed from Opera.
