Troubleshooting internet connection issues on macOS Sonoma

After upgrading to macOS Sonoma, some users may experience internet connection issues while using Avast Premium Securtiy or Avast One. This issue only affects users who are using an Ethernet cable connection. We have already released a fix for this issue in the form of an update, and this article explains how to re-enable your internet connection to apply the fix.

There are two methods of solving this issue. If you have access to a Wi-Fi network, you can temporarily connect to it, and install the update that will fix the issue. Otherwise, you can temporarily disable the Real Site feature which will allow you to re-establish the connection.

Temporarily switch to a Wi-Fi connection

Connect to your Wi-Fi network instead of your Ethernet connection. For instructions, refer to the following Apple Support article:

Open Avast Premium Security and go to ☰ Menu ▸ Preferences.
Ensure that the General tab is selected.
Click the Update now button and wait for the updates to install.

After installing the updates, wait for 5 minutes, and switch back to your Ethernet connection. The issue is now solved.

Temporarily disable Real Site

Open Avast Premium Security and go to Core Shields.
Click the Real Site slider.
Temporarily disable Real Site for 1 hour.
Click ☰ Menu ▸ Preferences.
Ensure that the General tab is selected.
Click the Update now button.

After installing the updates, wait for 5 minutes, and turn Real Site on. The issue is now solved.

Open Avast One, then click Avast One in the Apple menu bar and select Check for updates.
