General
What is Financial Monitoring?
Financial Monitoring is a feature in Avast Secure Identity that brings your financial accounts into one place, allowing you to view and track activity and receive alerts. You are responsible for keeping your accounts updated and connected so you can monitor for unexpected transactions or charges you do not recognize.
What financial institutions does Secure Identity support?
Secure Identity supports most financial institutions, but the network does not cover 100% of all institutions. The types of financial accounts supported include:
- Checking and savings accounts
- Mortgage accounts
- Credit cards
- Investment accounts
- Loans
How do I dispute a transaction?
If you did not complete a transaction, contact your financial institution as soon as possible. Some institutions may limit the number of days you have to dispute transactions.
How often do I receive transaction alerts?
- Frequently changing financial accounts (such as bank accounts, cards, and investments) are refreshed daily.
- Low-frequency accounts (such as loans, mortgages, insurance, and bills) and non-financial accounts are refreshed weekly.
What kind of transaction alerts are there?
You are alerted to various transaction types, such as recurring debits, withdrawals, buy now, pay later (BNPL) activity, and fund transfers.

Troubleshooting
Why was my financial account disconnected?
Financial accounts linked to the Secure Identity account may become disconnected for various reasons:
- You changed your financial institution’s username or password.
- Your bank requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Security or system updates were made on your financial institution’s website.
If your financial account is disconnected, you are notified and need to reconnect the account to continue monitoring.
How can I reconnect my financial account?
- Access Financial Monitoring by doing one of the following:
- Sign in to your Avast Account and click Identity dashboard in the top-left corner of the account page, then select Financial Monitoring.
- Open Avast One, hover your cursor over the side menu, and select Secure Identity ▸ click the link in the Financial Monitoring tab.
- Scroll down to Accounts, then click Manage accounts.
- In the Financial Monitoring tab, click
⋮(three dots) next to the relevant account, then select Reconnect. - Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your account.
Your financial account is reconnected and monitoring resumes.
- Verify your login credentials: If you have updated your login credentials (for example, username or password) with your financial institution, you need to update them in your Identity dashboard to allow access to your financial accounts.
- Do not use the auto‑fill feature: When attempting to reconnect your account, ensure that you type in your login credentials manually, rather than using auto‑fill from your web browser or password manager.
- Account locked due to too many login attempts: Your financial account may have been locked after too many failed login attempts. Sign in through your financial institution’s website. If you cannot sign in, contact your financial institution’s customer support to resolve the issue.
- Financial institution account needs your attention: Sign in to your financial institution account and check if any action is required, such as accepting updated terms and conditions or reviewing account notifications.
- Financial institution no longer supported: Your financial institution is no longer supported within the network.
How do I remove duplicate alerts?
Duplicate alerts may occur when the same financial institution is added more than once. Ensure that each institution is added only once by removing the duplicates.
Why did I not receive a Financial Monitoring alert?
You may not receive alerts for the following reasons:
- The financial institution is not linked to your account.
- The financial institution is disconnected.
- The transaction is not a withdrawal (only withdrawals trigger alerts).
- A temporary technical issue occurred.
To resolve the issue, reconnect your financial institution or add it if it is not already linked.
Why was the Financial Monitoring alert delayed?
Delays can occur if your bank is experiencing technical issues. Alerts may appear after the issue is resolved and the data is processed.
Why is the financial institution I want to add not on the list?
If your financial institution does not appear in the search results:
- Not all financial institutions are supported.
- Availability may change, but no specific timelines can be provided.
- Unsupported institutions cannot be monitored.
Why did I not receive a Verification code?
If you are prompted to enter a verification code but do not receive it:
- Ensure you entered the correct email address or phone number.
- Wait for the code and enter it on the next screen.
If the code is still not received, contact your financial institution.
