Activating Avast Mobile Security

This article applies to the older Avast Mobile Security app, which is being replaced by the new Avast One. As part of this transition, Avast Mobile Security is being removed from the Google Play Store and the App Store and will soon no longer be available. All new installations on Android and iOS now install the new Avast One app.

Avast Mobile Security is available as both a free and paid app. After you install the free version of the app, you may need to activate it. A subscription purchased via Google Play Store or the App Store activates automatically on the device you use to make the purchase. If you purchase your subscription through another Avast sales channel, such as the Avast Store, you need to manually activate the app using a valid activation code or your Avast Account.

Your device:

If you purchased a subscription bundle such as Avast Mobile Ultimate or Avast Cleanup Premium Plus in the Avast Cleanup application, your Avast Mobile Security application will activate automatically.

Enter activation code

To activate Avast Mobile Security using an activation code:

  1. Locate your activation code. This is included in your order confirmation email. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article: Locating your Avast activation code.
  2. Tap the Avast Mobile Security icon on the Home screen of your device. The app opens.
  3. Tap Account, then select the Subscription panel.
  4. Select Use an activation code.
  5. Type or paste your activation code (including hyphens) into the text box, then tap Continue.

Avast Mobile Security is now activated. If activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Still need help? section below.

  2. If activation using your activation code still doesn't work, try following the instructions to activate using your Avast Account.

Avast Account

Sign in to Avast Account

An Avast Account was created using the email address that you provided during the subscription purchase. To sign into your Avast Account for the first time, refer to the following article: Activating your Avast Account.

To activate Avast Mobile Security using your Avast Account:

  1. Tap the Avast Mobile Security icon on the Home screen of your device. The app opens.
  2. Tap Account, then select Sign in.
  3. Enter your Avast Account credentials, then tap Continue.

Avast Mobile Security is now activated. If activation is unsuccessful, refer to the Still need help? section below.

If you experience any activation issues, check that your Avast Account is registered to the email address that you used to purchase Avast Mobile Security. If you used a different email address for purchase, you can add this email address to your Avast Account. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article:

Google Play

Restore via Google Play

This option only applies if you purchased your Avast Mobile Security subscription through Google Play Store.

If you want to start using your subscription on a new device, or if you reset your existing device, you can restore your Avast Mobile Security subscription via Google Play Store:

  1. Ensure you are signed in to Google Play Store with the same Google Account that you used to purchase your subscription. For instructions on how to verify this, refer to the following Google Play Help article: Google Play Help ▸ How to add & use accounts in the Google Play Store on your device.
  2. Tap the Avast Mobile Security icon on the Home screen of your device. The app opens.
  3. Tap Account, then select the Subscription panel.
  4. Select Restore from Google Play.
